Your Data Stays With You
Fact Extract Bookmarker is local software that runs entirely on your computer. We do not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no tracking, and no phone-home functionality of any kind. The makers of Fact Extract Bookmarker have no access to your copy of the software or its data.
AI Features (Automatic Bookmarking)
Fact Extract Bookmarker includes an AI-powered automatic bookmarking feature that can detect document boundaries within your PDF files. If you choose to use this feature, you must configure your own API key for a supported AI provider (such as Anthropic/Claude, OpenAI, or Google Gemini). Your document data is transmitted directly between your computer and the AI provider using your own credentials. Fact Extract does not intermediate, log, or have any access to those communications.
If you use the AI bookmarking feature, please consult the privacy policy of the AI provider you configure for information about how your data is handled by that service.
You can also add bookmarks and divide documents manually without using any AI features.
No Relationship With Third Parties
We have no partnership, data-sharing agreement, or other relationship with any AI provider. When you configure your own API key, you are establishing a direct relationship between yourself and that provider. We are not a party to that relationship.

BY USING THIS SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS:
1. License
You may use Fact Extract Bookmarker free of charge. You may share this software with others. You may not decompile, reverse engineer, or modify this software.
2. AI-Generated Content
This software may create AI-generated material such as divisions of your larger PDF into smaller ones using bookmarks that can then be used to divide your large file into smaller ones based on their content. Such division of files can help get more accurate content summaries when using https://factextract.net. However, AI can make mistakes. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it for important decisions. You can add bookmarks and divide manually. You can also use AI to get a head start and then adjust manually.
3. Privacy
The AI powered automatic bookmarking feature allows you to divide your document using Claude.ai/Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini/Google. If you use those features, you will need to add your own API account data. Consult your own AI provider for its terms and conditions and privacy policy.
Otherwise, Fact Extract Bookmarker is local software that does not transmit or process your data via third party. The makers of Fact Extract Bookmarker have no access to your copy of the software or its data.
4. No Warranty
This software is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. Fact Extract disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
5. Disputes
If any dispute arises between you and the makers of Fact Extract Bookmarker concerning this software, you agree that you will first engage in a good faith interactive email exchange of at least two weeks to attempt to resolve any issues, directing email to the address provided at Fact Extract's website. No lawsuit may be filed prior to such good faith interactive communication. If you elect to file a lawsuit it may be filed only in Superior Court of California, County of Alameda. Your damages for any claim related to Fact Extract Bookmarker shall be limited to $150. You agree not to bring any claim in a representative or class action basis against the makers of Fact Extract Bookmarker related to this software. These dispute terms are material to the license provided to you, and are required to provide the software without cost.
Further, you agree that you will use Fact Extract Bookmarker only for lawful purposes. You release, indemnify, and hold harmless the makers of Fact Extract Bookmarker for any and all liability arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of the software.
The terms of this agreement shall be interpreted pursuant to the laws of the State of California.
If any provision in this license is deemed unlawful, it shall be stricken and the rest of the agreement shall remain.
If you do not agree to these terms, you must cease using the software.
